HARVEST FOR HUMANITY

Many of you have seen my other blog BUILDING A HOME ON A PENNIE while I'm working on a Building permit for my home on our property, I am also working on a underground garden for my non profit Harvest for Humanity, since all my seedlings I planted in eggshells and toilet paper rolls are taking over my house. My daughter and I decided to venture up to our property to see if ground was workable for home and garden..It was! I thought it would be good idea to mark my spot for underground greenhouse/garden so I could visualize, although the ground was workable, it was more labor then I was anticipating, with my one yr old daughter who is just figuring out how to walk on uneven terrain, so between shoveling and picking her up after rolling down the hill I decided to leave that job for my sons and backhoe! My property is at 10,000 ft in elevation, our seasons are winter and summer, between snow, wind, sun and short growing season, I thought I would try the underground greenhouse for year round garden that most of the materials to build it is dirt! Another good thing about the green house is I'm going to put my rain barrel down in it, out of site and use roof for collection of rain for my garden and I can make it big enough for a couple of goats.. along with my silkie chicks I'm getting this week in which they are great for the
garden ...all going towards being self sufficient. http://mindbodyandsoleonline.com/herbal-information/87th-wildcrafting-wednesday/
