SAVE A VICTORIAN "CROWED FUNDING 1O1"
I already have a vision how I want the front of my B&B to look, Welcoming and Victorian! many of you know I have been running several Fundraisers...It is defiantly a DIY project but of course with the support of friends and family. I am learning a lot and want to express to all my followers that as hard as it is at times to follow and work towards your dreams, don't give up! I had a good cry last night because I have a hard time understanding those who can help but wont, those who would like to see you fail because they have never had the BALLS to do something like this and for those people who don't have dreams, I don't want to just exist in life, I want it to have meaning, I want to have accomplished something I can have my kids look up to me and say Go MOM! and I want my children to know that sometimes, you can get want you want if you try hard enough.
Doing a fundraiser is work! you don't get something for nothing, I went to several business and told my story over and over again, to get donations for a silent auction to raise money for my cause, I had a BBQ for donation, at the place I'm trying to raise money for, "Saving a Victorian" and restoring it into a B&B, for some of you who have ask, "what are you naming it?" well out of respect of the original owner and every time I told my story to locals in an old mining town of Victor Colorado, I got, "ohhh, The Old Ma Beilz House," I did show my respect to her at local Victor cemetery, she was born in the 1800's! So that's what I will call it! Anyways back to fundraising, I traveled several miles to several cities to get interesting items to donate for my cause that I thought friends and family would like, that took a lot of thought and time. I made homemade tamales, and apple pie, great combination! I had www.thehungrychickenhomestead.com do an article on me, she did a great job, Thanks Bonnie! But of course my fundraiser got rained out,..I had a hand full of friends that attended and Heather from Clean Earth Soap, Amazing homemade soap, she is an artist.
I've now learned that there are easier way to fundraise, that is now called, "Crowed funding", There are several sites on it, I did a little research and found a few good ones, like www.gofundme.com, www.indigogo.com, and www.kickstarter.com . a couple of them, there are requirements and categories, they do take a percentage of funds you have raised but it is all or nothing, you set a goal amount you want to raise, if it isn't met in 30 or 60 days, to protect the people donating you get nothing. You have to set a reward for persons donating and its to anyone around the world. A very interesting way to raise money for a cause, but not as personal as a good old fashioned fundraiser! Of course I'm still trying to raise funds to "Save a Victorian", Here is my Crowed Funding site, plz check out!! http://www.gofundme.com/3ro5gs

I am hosting a fundraiser for raise money to save/restore Victorian in a old mining community of Victor, Colorado. The majority are women owed business like www.hungrychickenhomestead.com , www.cleanearthsoap.com , www.stonecreekfarmstead.com , and L'il Bit farms, A great bunch of women that will be sharing their knowledge of homesteading and homemade products, I have donations from local business's to Auction off to raise funds, and there will be a BBQ.
My dream is, when I open my B&B is to give the experience of going back in time, Homemade candles and soaps, bread, cheese, fresh eggs, canned jam's and jellies, Scones from scratch and nothing like homemade butter! There will be furniture from the Victorian era, and homemade Quilts on the bed...no TV!

VICTORIAN RESTORATION INTO B&B
I love antiques, I have spent many years restoring back to original condition. I've always been fascinated in history especially Edwardian, Victorian and Depression era. Women wore dresses, did there hair up, cooked meals from scratch, baked, made there own soap, candles etc. they lived off there gardens, hung laundry from the line. I would love to go back in time to experience that kind of life.
I found this Victorian home by accident, an antique on a grander scale! 113 years ago or so these homes were built, they don't build houses like this anymore, in some ways probably a good thing but the main architect is beautiful, I fell in love instantly! Since I can't go back in time, this is as close as I can get. I am just a woman with 4 children that has a dream to restore this beautiful home that has been neglected, to its former glory. Unfortunately I wasn't born a man with the skills to do this completely on my own, but I will learn and enjoy every moment.
This will be an experience for me because I am not rich, my income is not vast so I will have to rely on fundraisers, grants and small business loan for woman through SBA. My plans for this Victorian is to turn it into a B&B catering to weddings, reunions, company picnics, luncheons, Tea parties, dances, over night guests and the smaller home will be used as rental to local mine worker,.. yes it is in a old mining community in Victor, Colorado.
I will have special week end packages for Valentines, New Years Eve and local events also you can rent the whole house for a wedding event.
I will be hosting fundraiser July 28th 2013 @1pm, a back yard BBQ, possible music, and Auction.

HARVEST FOR HUMANITY
Many of you have seen my other blog BUILDING A HOME ON A PENNIE while I'm working on a Building permit for my home on our property, I am also working on a underground garden for my non profit Harvest for Humanity, since all my seedlings I planted in eggshells and toilet paper rolls are taking over my house. My daughter and I decided to venture up to our property to see if ground was workable for home and garden..It was! I thought it would be good idea to mark my spot for underground greenhouse/garden so I could visualize, although the ground was workable, it was more labor then I was anticipating, with my one yr old daughter who is just figuring out how to walk on uneven terrain, so between shoveling and picking her up after rolling down the hill I decided to leave that job for my sons and backhoe! My property is at 10,000 ft in elevation, our seasons are winter and summer, between snow, wind, sun and short growing season, I thought I would try the underground greenhouse for year round garden that most of the materials to build it is dirt! Another good thing about the green house is I'm going to put my rain barrel down in it, out of site and use roof for collection of rain for my garden and I can make it big enough for a couple of goats.. along with my silkie chicks I'm getting this week in which they are great for the
garden ...all going towards being self sufficient. http://mindbodyandsoleonline.com/herbal-information/87th-wildcrafting-wednesday/

Building a Homestead on a Pennie!
I am currently working on permit for building our "CORDWOOD HOME" My sons, father and I are going to design ourselves and luckily I've been involved in our very small mountain community for years and have made a lot of friends to help in trade, because in Colorado you have to have a licensed electrician, plumber and excavator, I will be relying on friends to help us. My plan is to use as much material from our land to build our home, to spend as least as possible. So I would like to welcome you all to our journey and hopefully this will help others venture out to follow there dreams in building your own Homestead like our fathers before us. Here are a couple pictures of my property, a little brown, cant wait until spring. UPDATED May 7th..My daughter and I decided to see if the ground was workable...it was! Digging underground garden for my non-profit organization Harvest For Humanity, since it doesn't require a permit and all my seedlings I planted, corn, sunflower, tomatoes, peppers, peas, lettuce, herbs and edible flowers are taking over my house! also waiting for my baby silkie chicks, all going towards living off the grid and being sufficient.
