I already have a vision how I want the front of my B&B to look, Welcoming and Victorian! many of you know I have been running several Fundraisers...It is defiantly a DIY project but of course with the support of friends and family. I am learning a lot and want to express to all my followers that as hard as it is at times to follow and work towards your dreams, don't give up! I had a good cry last night because I have a hard time understanding those who can help but wont, those who would like to see you fail because they have never had the BALLS to do something like this and for those people who don't have dreams, I don't want to just exist in life, I want it to have meaning, I want to have accomplished something I can have my kids look up to me and say Go MOM! and I want my children to know that sometimes, you can get want you want if you try hard enough.
Doing a fundraiser is work! you don't get something for nothing, I went to several business and told my story over and over again, to get donations for a silent auction to raise money for my cause, I had a BBQ for donation, at the place I'm trying to raise money for, "Saving a Victorian" and restoring it into a B&B, for some of you who have ask, "what are you naming it?" well out of respect of the original owner and every time I told my story to locals in an old mining town of Victor Colorado, I got, "ohhh, The Old Ma Beilz House," I did show my respect to her at local Victor cemetery, she was born in the 1800's! So that's what I will call it! Anyways back to fundraising, I traveled several miles to several cities to get interesting items to donate for my cause that I thought friends and family would like, that took a lot of thought and time. I made homemade tamales, and apple pie, great combination! I had www.thehungrychickenhomestead.com do an article on me, she did a great job, Thanks Bonnie! But of course my fundraiser got rained out,..I had a hand full of friends that attended and Heather from Clean Earth Soap, Amazing homemade soap, she is an artist.
I've now learned that there are easier way to fundraise, that is now called, "Crowed funding", There are several sites on it, I did a little research and found a few good ones, like www.gofundme.com, www.indigogo.com, and www.kickstarter.com . a couple of them, there are requirements and categories, they do take a percentage of funds you have raised but it is all or nothing, you set a goal amount you want to raise, if it isn't met in 30 or 60 days, to protect the people donating you get nothing. You have to set a reward for persons donating and its to anyone around the world. A very interesting way to raise money for a cause, but not as personal as a good old fashioned fundraiser! Of course I'm still trying to raise funds to "Save a Victorian", Here is my Crowed Funding site, plz check out!! http://www.gofundme.com/3ro5gs
